Another day (Review) - Încă o zi (Recenzie) by David Levithan

English version

This book was given for a review by the Libris online library.

Description:
Every day is the same for Rhiannon. She has accepted her life, convinced herself that she deserves her distant, temperamental boyfriend, Justin, even established guidelines by which to live: Don’t be too needy. Avoid upsetting him. Never get your hopes up.

Until the morning everything changes. Justin seems to see her, to want to be with her for the first time, and they share a perfect day—a perfect day Justin doesn’t remember the next morning. Confused, depressed, and desperate for another day as great as that one, Rhiannon starts questioning everything. Then, one day, a stranger tells her that the Justin she spent that day with, the one who made her feel like a real person…wasn’t Justin at all.

In this enthralling companion to his New York Times bestseller Every Day, David Levithan tells Rhiannon’s side of the story as she seeks to discover the truth about love and how it can change you.

Review:
It is interesting to see the difference between two perspective of the same action or story. In the first book, from the point of view of A everything seemed to be so simple, like Rhiannon was not already in a steady relationship. But as we travel around her mind we can see how important are the details  for a girl and how she complicates everything in her thoughts. This book shows what qualities a girl search in a boyfriend. But also how we always tend to ignore the bad things in a long relationship because we think that this is normal and it is just as it needs to be. So the storyline is very simple, it is quite the same as in „Day by day” with the only difference that the main character is Rhiannon not A. I think that David wanted us to see how dissimilar the same action can be from those who take part at it.

I am thinking that I need to do a battle between these two books and to say what differences are among them because I do not know how to review this one without giving any spoiler.

My personal opinion on this book:
Firstly, I didn't like it because I was dumb enough to think that this is the second volume of „Everyday” series. After several pages I started feeling that I know the storyline so I decided to read on the back of the book and I was very upset on myself because I did not read it earlier. To sum up, it is an wonderful story and it is amazing to read them both so you can compare the perspectives of genres.

Quotes:

“Most of the time when we think we're looking for death, we're really looking for love.”

“It wouldn't be fair to ask you to be around me when I'm so sick of being around me.”

“That has to be what love is - seeing what a mess he is and loving him anyway, because you know you're a mess, too, maybe even worse.”
“When I leave my own house, there's always a part of me that stays behind, waiting for me to get back. That's what makes it my home - that feeling that a part of me is always waiting for me there.”

This is my first review wrote in English directly so please notice me if I have any mistakes.  Thank you Libris library for giving me this book.

Descriere:

The Realm of Possibility, Are We There Yet?, Live is the Higher Law.
